What is the equity type, vest schedule, cliff, and what happens on termination?
Why it matters. Unvested equity usually vanishes if you leave or are let go.
Is the role at-will, and is there any severance or change-in-control protection?
Why it matters. Without severance language, exit terms are pure discretion.
Are there non-compete, non-solicit, or IP assignment documents I should see before day one?
Why it matters. Side agreements can restrict your next career move.
What is the start date flexibility and background check contingency?
Why it matters. You need a clean handoff from your current employer.
